Following yesterday's information about what has been happening at AviUnite. We have got 2 new domains which we will be using on a temporary basis to cover AviUnite until we can reclaim our .com address.

The new site for the grid is and you will need to update this in your grid settings using the grid URL If you are unsure on how to add your grid to the viewer all details can be found here.

We would suggest for the moment adding this as you would a new grid rather than updating the old grid URL this will ensure all your settings are clean and set up as they should be. We are currently working through the website to update all URLs so you may still find a couple of places where the .com is mentioned but please if you can do not visit the .com version of the aviunite website. As most of you will know who have tried will see they are redirecting the page to another site which they are receiving revenue from so in fact every time we try to visit the .com we are paying the crook who is now holding our domain to ransom!

We would like to assure you again that during this time AviUnite has not been compromised in anyway and we are working and seeking legal advice on what we can do to get back our domain along with working with the domain registrar.

Thank you to all of our AviUnite friends for your support during this time.

Kind regards,

On behalf of the AviUnite team.

Dear friends of AviUnite.

We are aware that a lot of you are awaiting updates on what has happened to AviUnite and the current content which our site is being redirected to. What I can assure you is AviUnite is safe and we are keeping it that way. I will try to explain more below on what has happened to our site.

A bit of background... As some of you will be aware, we rely like thousands of other people who own domain companies where we can purchase and renew our domain (please if this shows as a link to you do not click it!) In February this year, as we do every other year we renewed our domain with the company who provides us with this service for a further 2 years. As far as we were concerned everything was fine and the site continued to run and along with other companies we were working on ensuring we meet the new privacy laws which are currently coming into effect. On Sunday of last week we opened the site to find out it was redirecting to a site which we have no affiliation with at all. Our first thoughts were that our site may have been attacked and put in place all the steps we could to check this. This is when we discovered this was not the case. What has happened is when we renewed our domain.

What happened ... OpenSRS and Verisign has technical issues on the day the renewal took place so never actually registered with them that we had renewed, even though everything on our side and on our registration company was showing something different. As Verisign and OpenSRS saw the domain as not being renewed they passed it to the auction sites Go Daddy/NameCheap, both of who we have contacted and have been less than helpful. What they did allow to happen was for the domain sold on to a company based in the Cayman Islands who are now with no better way of explaining are holding our .com domain to ransom requesting a payment of just under $10,000 which obviously as you can imagine is not something we can pay.

What are we doing to fix this.... On a temporary basis we are registering AviUnite under and .uk just so we can at least get the grid back up and running. Which as you can imagine is not an easy job due to a complete domain change but we are working as quickly as possible to now get this working.

Long term, we are working/badgering/shouting at however your would like to see it with our register company on a daily basis via messages and phone calls on a fighting to get our .com domain back.

I would like to assure all users of AviUnite that none of our systems have come under attack and no one has been able to gain access to any user details or the grid its self. Simply put we have had our domain taken from us and we are fighting tooth and nail to get it back. We can't apologise enough for the inconvenience this is causing and want to assure you we are trying all we can to get a resolution to this.

As soon as we have any further updates I will of course try to get the information out to everyone but in the meantime please can I ask you all to keep an eye on this site, our facebook and our twitter and we will keep you informed.

Thank you all for your support and patience and if you need any further help please feel free to contact us via our facebook page or our temp email address This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.

AviUnite Customer Support Manager.

Over Christmas we sent out our newsletter highlighting some of the updates regarding AviUnite and some of the future plans.

Now most of the festivities are over and we have had chance to take a little time to relax we are now back at work and planning some more improvements for this year.

The free homes has been one of our major offers to residents, most of which would not be possible without the help and careful planning and building from one of our team members Clara-Rose. We would like to take this opportunity to thank Clara for all her help in 2017 in getting the new free homes ready for you all to enjoy and we look forward to offering our residents more over the next year and years to come.

This January we will also be placing some special offers on our site for residents wanting to own their own land in AviUnite so please keep an eye out for these over the next coming weeks!

We would like to wish you all a very happy new year and all the best for 2018!

With kind regards,

The AviUnite Team

We just want to say thank you to everyone who has helped with testing, double testing and providing us with feedback on all the upgrades we have been working on over the last few months, without your help we would not have been able to get this far!

UPDATE: 26th November 19.00 GMT - All regions are now running on OS 0.9 with Bullet. There is one regions remaining on OS8 - the region can be found by searching 'OS8.2.1' in the world map. We also have the OS9 Bullet region still online for people wishing to test between the two versions.

If you do find any issues please report it to the support team via the contact us button in the lower left of the screen.

UPDATE: 26th November 13.15 GMT - Updates so far going well, we are starting to upgrade regions and check for issues but all working well so far.

25th November 21.00 - After testing and making changes to the OS0.9 we are happy to announce this weekend we will be going ahead with the upgrade of the grid. Starting 26th of November from approx 8.00 GMT this does mean that regions and the grid will be offline for periods of time throughout the day. A note for creators: Since testing with both obOBE and Bullet we have made the decision to stay with bullet as we hope this will have the least impact on mesh creations.

We thank you all for the feedback you have provided over this week and for your patience during testing and upgrading times.

Following testing this morning.

All regions are back online running OS 8.2.1

There are 2 new regions:

These are the new Sim’s for testing.

Please feel free over the next couple of days to play around and test scripts/building etc on both these regions feedback from testing will decide which physics we will be using on the whole grid.

As some of you may already know the team at AviUnite have been working hard over the last couple of months to test out upgrading the grid to 0.9.

The reason for such a long testing period is that the new version for the grid will make a lot of back end changes. Some of which are not easy to reverse once we have moved over. However, as always we will be making back ups of the grid every step of the way just in case we do encounter any unplanned issues.

We are planning on making the move over the 0.9 version next weekend (the 25th of November) but before we make the move though we would like some user input on your experiences of the differences between 0.8 and 0.9 if you do have any these can be good or bad as we would like to have a full overview which we can test before making the move.

You can give us feedback in a variety of ways.
